Routine Carpet Care
Routine carpet care is important to maintaining the appearance and longevity of your carpet. Vacuum regularly to remove dirt and debris that can wear down your fibers over time. How often you vacuum will depend on how much foot traffic the room receives. Use mats and remove shoes at entryways to reduce the amount of grime tracked onto your flooring. Rotate your furniture periodically to prevent uneven wear patterns, and use furniture coasters to distribute weight and prevent indentations.
Carpet Spills & Stains
Although many carpet products available from the top brands are stain resistant, no carpet is 100% stain proof. Timing is of the essence when it comes to carpet care and spill cleanup, which is why many carpets are treated to be stain resistant – giving you more time to act.
Blot the spill with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb as much liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, which can spread the stain.
For solid spills, carefully scoop up any material, and then, blot the area with a clean cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the material deeper into the carpet fibers.
Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific instructions, as using the wrong cleaning method could void the warranty or damage the carpet fibers. Identify the type of stain and use an appropriate carpet stain remover, following the instructions carefully. Test the cleaner in an inconspicuous area first to ensure it won't cause discoloration or damage.
